The Story Behind Layne & Co.
Founded and owned by Shelby Sells, Layne & Co. was built from a lifelong dream and a deep love for the beauty industry. “Layne” — Shelby’s middle name — became the foundation for a brand that reflects her vision: timeless, personal, and rooted in authenticity.
Before opening her first salon, Shelby earned her degree in Business Administration while playing Division I softball, graduating early with honors, Cum Laude.
A proud Austin native, she dreamed of bringing her work ethic and creative talent back home to serve her community.
After graduating from Paul Mitchell the School Austin in 2017, Shelby opened her first salon suite just one week later. Over four years, she built a loyal clientele and a reputation for excellence. In September 2021, she opened the doors to Layne & Co. Salon — a space built on education, artistry, and heart.
Shelby’s mission is simple: to create a space where artistry and education meet, confidence is cultivated, and every guest leaves feeling as beautiful on the inside as they do on the outside.
Roxie Farias Challis
Roxie is just a small town girl who was born in San Antonio and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. Upon graduation from high school, Roxie attended Southwest Texas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. During Roxie’s illustrious career, she has held many job titles such as Legislative Research Assistant for Senator Zaffirini, Legislative Program Specialist for The Texas Rehabilitation Commission, Director of Business for Austin Cheer Factory and presently Salon Manager at Layne & Co. Salon. However, her most treasured job titles have been that of loving wife and mom to her boys.
Roxie enjoys being a part of the talented Layne & Co. Salon Team. Her favorite part of her job is taking care of each stylist and ensuring that each client has impeccable service and the most amazing experience at Layne & Co.

ANNA Watson
Anna, an Austin-based hairstylist and educator, is known for her lived-in approach to modern color and extensions. She specializes in dimensional blondes, seamless brunettes, and natural-looking extensions that blend precision with an effortless, luxury finish.
Her artistry earned global recognition as a Top 5 Finalist at the 2025 BTC One Shot Hair Awards, a reflection of her ability to merge technical skill with creative vision. Beyond the chair, Anna is passionate about education and mentoring the next generation of stylists. Clients know her for her refined artistry, trust-based approach, and results that feel both natural and elevated.

Arabella, born and raised in Georgetown, Texas, began her career behind the chair in 2021 while attending The Salon Professional Academy in Georgetown. With a passion for enhancing natural beauty, she specializes in lived-in color, dimensional blondes, and high-impact transformations.
Her focus is to provide every guest with a luxury, welcoming experience where they feel truly cared for and leave with renewed confidence. Known for her close attention to detail and personalized approach, Arabella creates effortlessly stunning looks tailored to each client’s lifestyle.
Outside of the salon, Arabella enjoys spending time with her son and dogs, watching reality TV, working out, and shopping for her next favorite find.

Originally from sunny San Diego, California, Bella’s passion for hair began early, watching her mom transform clients behind the chair. Inspired by that creativity and connection, she pursued her own career in cosmetology and recently graduated from The Salon Professional Academy in Georgetown.
Bella focuses on blonding, cutting, and extensions creating styles that enhance each client’s natural beauty while bringing out their confidence. Her chair is a space where guests can relax, recharge, and leave feeling their absolute best.
Outside of the salon, Bella loves soaking up the sunshine, traveling to new places, and enjoying life’s adventures with her husband.

Braily Strahan
Braily was born and raised in the small town of Lorena, Texas, before moving to Austin to pursue her passion for beauty. She began cosmetology school in August 2024 and, as a recent graduate, brings a fresh perspective and eagerness to grow within the industry. Braily focuses on lived-in colors, and blonding techniques, with a commitment to continuing education and creating looks that make guests feel their very best.
Outside of the salon, Braily enjoys cooking new gluten-free recipes, photography, and shopping. She also loves spending time outdoors, whether it’s a beach trip or a quick getaway, and never misses the chance to catch a good country concert with friends.

Josey Kannmacher
Josey, born and raised in Lago Vista, Texas, discovered her passion for cosmetology after graduating high school in 2021. She attended Avenue Five Institute, where she developed her technical skills and creative vision, graduating in March 2024. Shortly after, she joined the Layne & Co. team, drawn to the salon’s collaborative culture and education-focused environment.
Josey specializes in lived-in color and extensions, creating soft, dimensional results that enhance her guests’ natural beauty. Her goal is to provide a relaxed, uplifting experience where each client feels seen, confident, and cared for.
Outside of the salon, Josey enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and two dogs, Oakley and Whiskey, or winding down with a good book and country music—especially Cody Johnson.

Laurin Meyer
Laurin, born and raised in Austin, Texas, began her journey behind the chair in 2017 while attending cosmetology school. During her time there, she made a meaningful impact as a student council member, raising $5,000 for tuition assistance. Alongside her studies, she gained valuable experience as an apprentice at a luxury salon, which paved the way for her successful career behind the chair. Laurin’s next exciting goal is to become IBE® certified, further advancing her expertise.
When she’s not in the salon, Laurin is always seeking new adventures and embracing spontaneous weekend getaways. You can often find her outdoors, swimming, working out, or enjoying quality time with her family and friends.

Specializing in blonding and seamless extension transformations, Reagan’s focus is to create a comfortable, welcoming environment where every guest feels like they’re catching up with a friend. Taylor grew up in the small town of Rockdale, Texas, before moving to Houston to begin her journey in the beauty industry. She specializes in lived-in color and both traditional and alternative haircutting, blending creativity with precision to craft looks that reflect each guest’s individuality.
She’s passionate about creating an inclusive, comfortable environment where every guest feels heard, seen, and celebrated. Taylor’s approach behind the chair is rooted in connection, artistry, and helping each client feel their most authentic self.
Outside of the salon, Taylor enjoys photography, thrifting around Austin, reading, and discovering new indie films. Most weekends, she spends quiet time at home with her husband and their three dogs.

Shelby, a proud Austin native, is the visionary force behind Layne & Co. Salon. After graduating college in Louisiana as a collegiate athlete with a degree in Business Administration, she opened her first salon suite in 2017, a leap that evolved into the full-scale Layne & Co. Salon by 2021.
Her purpose extends beyond beautiful hair. Shelby is deeply passionate about helping stylists build confident, sustainable careers through education and mentorship. As an Invisible Bead Extensions® Elite Artist, Masters Business Educator, and Business Academy Mentor, she empowers others to grow both behind the chair and in business.
Known for her direct leadership, refined artistry, and heart for teaching, Shelby leads with intention, creating a culture rooted in collaboration, growth, and authenticity.
Outside of the salon, you’ll find her soaking in sunsets on the ranch, spending time with her horses and dogs, or enjoying live music and travel with friends and family.

We require a 48 hour notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Day of cancellations, reschedules, no call or no shows, will be charged 100% of the service that was scheduled. If you do not cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance than you will be required to pay 30% of your scheduled service before rescheduling.

If you are dissatisfied with a service you received we absolutely want to make it right. We are happy to offer you the opportunity to return to the salon for a redo, though it must be communicated to the salon within 7 days of the service provided.

We are located between Advanced Smiles Dental and City Limits Vet Clinic off Parmer Lane.
If you are a new guest, please fill out our new guest application to allow us to get to know you and your hair goals so we can select the service that will be the best match for you. If you would rather meet in person to talk face to face you can book a color consultation or an extension consultation on our online booking system.
