HOW DID LAYNE & CO. START?
Well, Layne is Shelbys middle name. When trying to find a perfect salon name, Layne just seemed to fit perfectly. While owning a Salon has always been a dream of Shelbys, she first wanted to get her college degree while playing Division I softball. With her plan in motion she graduated early with Honors, Cum Laude.
Shelby is a native Austinite, born and raised, so being able to bring hard work and talent back to her home town is something she always dreamed of. Shelby is extremely passionate about the beauty industry, which only continues to grow daily. Her mission is to educate her clients properly, spread love, kindness, and confidence to all those who she crosses paths with.
Shelby opened her salon studio the week following graduation from Paul Mitchell, the School Austin in 2017. While building her career as an independent stylist she stayed in salon suites for 4 years until September of 2021. She was able to open Layne & Co. with extreme determination and hard work.
SHELBY-LAYNE SELLS
Shelby, a proud Austin, Texas native, pursued both academics and athletics in Louisiana, where she was a collegiate athlete for three years before graduating early with honors in 2016. In 2017, Shelby took her passion for hair to the next level by opening her own salon suite, which she grew into a full-scale salon by 2021. She specializes in Invisible Bead Extensions® and has expanded her expertise as both a platform educator and a Masters business educator for the brand. Shelby is driven by her love for sharing salon industry business knowledge and helping others grow their own businesses.
Outside of the salon, Shelby enjoys attending concerts, traveling, hanging out by the water, spending time with friends, and her two beloved dogs. One of her favorite ways to unwind is watching the sunset on her porch with a glass of wine in hand.

Cassidy Coffman
Cassidy, originally from the small town of Geneseo, IL, discovered her love for creativity early on. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Art in 2017, she followed her passion for beauty and attended Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, graduating in 2019. Soon after, Cassidy made the move to Austin, TX, where she trained under Shelby for a year and a half before stepping out to take her own clients at Layne & Co. Salon.
Cassidy specializes in lived-in, low-maintenance color, creating effortless looks that align with her clients’ lifestyles. She is currently welcoming new color clients and looks forward to collaborating with you on your hair goals.
Outside the salon, Cassidy’s creativity extends to a variety of hobbies, from sewing and crochet to interior design and collage. An animal lover at heart, she shares her home with two dogs, Wesley and Hudson, and two cats, Russell and Charlie. When she’s not crafting or caring for her pets, you can find her hiking, thrifting, planning trips, or tending to her indoor garden.

Stella Marzella
Stella, who was born and raised in a small town in Italy and moved to Leander, Texas in 2010. Stella has always been the go-to hairstylist among her friends, a passion that she’s nurtured from a young age. After graduating from the Salon Professional Academy in Georgetown in 2023, Stella honed her skills under the mentorship of Shelby at Layne & Co. Salon, quickly progressing to manage her own clientele. Stella excels in crafting seamless blondes and lived-in colors, aiming to not only transform hair but also uplift spirits and boost confidence.
When she’s not in the salon, Stella can be found lost in a thrilling novel, watching suspenseful movies, or cherishing time with her family.

Mikayla, a passionate stylist from Austin, Texas. After completing cosmetology school in 2022, she joined Layne & Co. Salon, where she has been perfecting her craft since August 2023. With a deep love for all color services, Mikayla has a particular talent for creating lived-in colors. Her focus is to provide a personalized and high-quality experience, ensuring that every client leaves her chair feeling confident and refreshed. Mikayla is excited to welcome new clients and is ready to collaborate with you to achieve your perfect hair vision!
When she’s not in the salon, Mikayla enjoys reading, taking peaceful walks, and baking up a storm, filling her home with wonderful aromas.

Makenna smith
With over six years of experience in the beauty industry, Makenna has become one of Austin’s top hairstylists. A graduate of Toni & Guy in Dallas, she further refined her craft through a two-year apprenticeship under expert mentors. Her passion for transformative styles shines through, whether she’s taking brunettes to blondes, creating bold and vibrant hues, or adding volume and length with Invisible Bead Extensions®. Certified in IBE® since 2023 and currently pursuing her master certification, Makenna is committed to delivering jaw-dropping results that leave clients saying, ‘Oh my gosh, I LOVE this!’
Makenna is not only a technical expert but also a great listener who fosters a welcoming, connected environment where clients feel pampered and heard. Her close-knit salon family and the relationships she’s built with clients are her pride, and she’s excited to welcome new faces to her chair.
When she’s not in the salon, Makenna enjoys spending time outdoors with friends, family, her husband, and their dogs. Whether it’s taking vacations in the sun, snow or learning how to golf, she’s always embracing new adventures.

Josey Kannmacher
Josey grew up in Lago Vista, Texas, and graduated from high school in 2021. After taking a gap year to work and explore her passions, she quickly discovered that hairstyling was her true calling. In July 2023, she enrolled at Avenue Five Institute, where she honed her skills and graduated in March 2024. Upon obtaining her license, Josey joined Layne & Co. Salon, instantly connecting with the team and leadership.
Outside of the salon, you’ll likely find Josey immersed in a good book or enjoying the outdoors with her family. She has a deep love for country music, with Cody Johnson being her favorite artist. Josey also has two beloved dogs—a rescue named Oakley and a step dog named Whiskey.

Lili Mitchell
Lili, our spirited stylist from Indianapolis, Indiana. After completing her cosmetology training in a charming small-town career center, Lili ventured to Austin, where she also earned an associate’s degree in legal studies. Despite her diverse interests, her true passion lies in the world of hair and beauty, specializing in stunning blonding techniques and dimensional color. Lili is thrilled to be taking on new models and bringing her artistic visions to life while building her clientele.
Away from the salon, Lili’s vibrant energy leads her to dance halls and concerts, or you might find her unwinding at home with her favorite TV series and podcasts. An avid traveler and explorer of central Texas’, Lili cherishes time with her loved ones and her rescued pittie mix, Nina, who’s always ready for the next adventure. Ask her about Nina, and you’ll hear some heartwarming tales!

Kelsey Grace
Kelsey, a native Austinite, discovered her love for hair early on. After graduating from a local high school, she pursued her studies at Blinn Junior College on a cheerleading scholarship. She later returned to Austin to attend The Paul Mitchell School of Austin, where she graduated in 2017. Kelsey spent three years working as both a stylist and manager at a local barbershop before stepping into her most rewarding role yet—being a full-time stay-at-home mom to her two babies.
In addition to her passion for hair, Kelsey cherishes quality time with her family and friends, always finding joy in the moments spent with her loved ones.

Laurin Meyer
Laurin, born and raised in Austin, Texas, began her journey behind the chair in 2017 while attending cosmetology school. During her time there, she made a meaningful impact as a student council member, raising $5,000 for tuition assistance. Alongside her studies, she gained valuable experience as an apprentice at a luxury salon, which paved the way for her successful career behind the chair. Laurin’s next exciting goal is to become IBE® certified, further advancing her expertise.
When she’s not in the salon, Laurin is always seeking new adventures and embracing spontaneous weekend getaways. You can often find her outdoors, swimming, working out, or enjoying quality time with her family and friends.

Roxie Farias Challis
Roxie is just a small town girl who was born in San Antonio and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. Upon graduation from high school, Roxie attended Southwest Texas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. During Roxie’s illustrious career, she has held many job titles such as Legislative Research Assistant for Senator Zaffirini, Legislative Program Specialist for The Texas Rehabilitation Commission, Director of Business for Austin Cheer Factory and presently Salon Manager at Layne & Co. Salon. However, her most treasured job titles have been that of loving wife and mom to her boys.
Roxie enjoys being a part of the talented Layne & Co. Salon Team. Her favorite part of her job is taking care of each stylist and ensuring that each client has impeccable service and the most amazing experience at Layne & Co.

If you are a new client you can book an in person consultation via our online booking link HERE. If you are an existing client you can use the online booking system to reschedule. As always we are available to answer any other questions at 512-814-0109.

We require a 48 hour notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Day of cancellations, reschedules, no call or no shows, will be charged 100% of the service that was scheduled. If you do not cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance than you will be required to pay 30% of your scheduled service before rescheduling.

If you are dissatisfied with a service you received we absolutely want to make it right. We are happy to offer you the opportunity to return to the salon for a redo, though it must be communicated to the salon within 7 days of the service provided.
