HOW DID LAYNE & CO. START?
Well, Layne is Shelbys middle name. When trying to find a perfect salon name, Layne just seemed to fit perfectly. While owning a Salon has always been a dream of Shelbys, she first wanted to get her college degree while playing Division I softball. With her plan in motion she graduated early with Honors, Cum Laude.
Shelby is a native Austinite, born and raised, so being able to bring hard work and talent back to her home town is something she always dreamed of. Shelby is extremely passionate about the beauty industry, which only continues to grow daily. Her mission is to educate her clients properly, spread love, kindness, and confidence to all those who she crosses paths with.
Shelby opened her salon studio the week following graduation from Paul Mitchell, the School Austin in 2017. While building her career as an independent stylist she stayed in salon suites for 4 years until September of 2021. She was able to open Layne & Co. with extreme determination and hard work.
SHELBY SELLS
Shelby, a proud Austin native, blended her love of both academics and athletics while attending college in Louisiana, where she was a collegiate athlete for three years before graduating early with honors in 2016. In 2017, she launched her first salon suite, which grew into the full-scale Layne & Co. Salon by 2021.
Shelby specializes in Invisible Bead Extensions® and is recognized as an IBE® Elite Artist, Masters Business Educator, and Expansion Coach. Beyond the chair, she is passionate about sharing her business expertise with fellow stylists, helping them find confidence and sustainable success in their own careers.
Outside of the salon, you’ll often find Shelby at concerts, traveling, spending time with her horses or enjoying time by the water with friends and her two beloved dogs. One of her favorite ways to unwind is watching the sunset from her porch with a glass of wine in hand.

Braily Strahan
Braily was born and raised in the small town of Lorena, Texas, before moving to Austin to pursue her passion for beauty. She began cosmetology school in August 2024 and, as a recent graduate, brings a fresh perspective and eagerness to grow within the industry. Braily specializes in lived-in blondes, traditional color, and blonding techniques, with a commitment to continuing education and creating looks that make guests feel their very best.
Outside of the salon, Braily enjoys cooking new gluten-free recipes, photography, and shopping. She also loves spending time outdoors, whether it’s a beach trip or a quick getaway, and never misses the chance to catch a good country concert with friends.

mikayla DeMaio
Mikayla, a passionate stylist from Austin, Texas. After completing cosmetology school in 2022, she joined Layne & Co. Salon, where she has been perfecting her craft since August 2023. With a deep love for all color services, Mikayla has a particular talent for creating lived-in colors. Her focus is to provide a personalized and high-quality experience, ensuring that every client leaves her chair feeling confident and refreshed. Mikayla is excited to welcome new clients and is ready to collaborate with you to achieve your perfect hair vision!
When she’s not in the salon, Mikayla enjoys reading, taking peaceful walks, and baking up a storm, filling her home with wonderful aromas.

Laurin Meyer
Laurin, born and raised in Austin, Texas, began her journey behind the chair in 2017 while attending cosmetology school. During her time there, she made a meaningful impact as a student council member, raising $5,000 for tuition assistance. Alongside her studies, she gained valuable experience as an apprentice at a luxury salon, which paved the way for her successful career behind the chair. Laurin’s next exciting goal is to become IBE® certified, further advancing her expertise.
When she’s not in the salon, Laurin is always seeking new adventures and embracing spontaneous weekend getaways. You can often find her outdoors, swimming, working out, or enjoying quality time with her family and friends.

Josey Kannmacher
Josey grew up in Lago Vista, Texas, and graduated from high school in 2021. After taking a gap year to work and explore her passions, she quickly discovered that hairstyling was her true calling. In July 2023, she enrolled at Avenue Five Institute, where she honed her skills and graduated in March 2024. Upon obtaining her license, Josey joined Layne & Co. Salon, instantly connecting with the team and leadership.
Outside of the salon, you’ll likely find Josey immersed in a good book or enjoying the outdoors with her family. She has a deep love for country music, with Cody Johnson being her favorite artist. Josey also has two beloved dogs—a rescue named Oakley and a step dog named Whiskey.

Roxie Farias Challis
Roxie is just a small town girl who was born in San Antonio and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. Upon graduation from high school, Roxie attended Southwest Texas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. During Roxie’s illustrious career, she has held many job titles such as Legislative Research Assistant for Senator Zaffirini, Legislative Program Specialist for The Texas Rehabilitation Commission, Director of Business for Austin Cheer Factory and presently Salon Manager at Layne & Co. Salon. However, her most treasured job titles have been that of loving wife and mom to her boys.
Roxie enjoys being a part of the talented Layne & Co. Salon Team. Her favorite part of her job is taking care of each stylist and ensuring that each client has impeccable service and the most amazing experience at Layne & Co.

We require a 48 hour notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Day of cancellations, reschedules, no call or no shows, will be charged 100% of the service that was scheduled. If you do not cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance than you will be required to pay 30% of your scheduled service before rescheduling.

If you are dissatisfied with a service you received we absolutely want to make it right. We are happy to offer you the opportunity to return to the salon for a redo, though it must be communicated to the salon within 7 days of the service provided.

We are located between Advanced Smiles Dental and City Limits Vet Clinic off Parmer Lane.
If you are a new guest, please fill out our new guest application to allow us to get to know you and your hair goals so we can select the service that will be the best match for you. If you would rather meet in person to talk face to face you can book a color consultation or an extension consultation on our online booking system.
